If you apply undeclared to Berkeley, is it extremely difficult to get into EECS later(assuming UCB accepts you)?

Thanks for answering guys.

undeclared what college?

engineering undeclared?
getting admitted to that is almost as difficult as getting into eecs.
I wont recommend that unless you have absolutely no idea what u want to major in.

L&S undeclared?
yes. you have to switch college. usually requires to notch grades on all ur lower div prereqs

OH…I thought you were allowed to just put “undeclared” on your application…
so you have to choose a college to be “undeclared” under?

By the way, I am talking about undergraduate admissions…sorry if I was a bit vague.

No, you normally just put “undeclared” on your application. Engineering undeclared is a “major” in the college of engineering; it gives you the right to transfer into any other engineering major you’d like. If you’d selected it, you would know.

not directly answering your question but if you are in l&s and want to do computer science, just do cs. if you are considering ee, then do eecs.

you’ll take the same classes minus the ones that are not as relevant (physics 7 series) to computer science

Engineering undeclared is one of the toughest engineering majors to get accepted into.

However, once accepted, you can transfer to competitive majors like BioE or, in my case, EECS by just filling out a 30 second form as long as you have > 2.0.
