underage drinking consequences for non-students

I went to a dorm party to pick up a friend who was feeling sick. As I tried to get my friend out the door some security guards and some guy (I don't even think it was the RA) came in and saw the alcohol and took down the names of everyone in the dorm. The guy allowed me to leave but he still had my name written down. I am not a student at the university concerned but I do have a file there as I have been accepted. What are the consequences for non-students or prospective students caught in a situation like mine? I am 18 so I don't think they will tell my parents but I'm just not sure what is going to happen. Any responses are appreciated.

I’m not sure. Sounds like you didn’t drink though. In theory, you should eventually be all right, but at worst, maybe you’ll have to say hello in court or smthg.

i was completely sober. I’m just wondering if RA’s usually enter this stuff into peoples files or if they might contact my high school or something. There were no actual cops so i don’t think there will be any kind of court situation.

RA’s always take down everyone’s names when there is a situation involving drugs or alcohol. I have no idea what they actually do with that kind of information, as me and my roommates never received any type of official warning from the res halls or anything whenever the RA’s try to enforce their authority like losers.

oh my bad. when I saw “security” I thought, “cops!” lol

I wouldn’t worry about it. Most schools don’t care too much about minor brushups with the law due to underage drinking.

I highly doubt there will be any consequences in your situation. They might ask you to make a statement (in that case, just tell the truth) but the likelihood of that even happening is extremely slim. Typically when students get written up in a dorm if the police aren’t involved the students who get in trouble are those that live there, because they are the ones responsible for their guests.

I doubt they’d even care about you. The resident hall director will probably just punish the students since they weren’t allowed to have alcohol there first of all. They may just punish the student whose room they were in or find out which student(s) brought the alcohol to the dorm. I know this happened a few times back at my other college and only the student whose room the alcohol was in got in trouble. I do know that most kids who have alcohol in their rooms are either just given a slap on the wrist(warning) or kicked out of the residence halls. Theres always a benefit to being kicked out since your contract is automatically waived(for my school it was at least), you get a certain amount of $$ back, and you already made friends so you can host off-campus parties.

How exactly would colleges I am applying to find out about stuff like this? (I’m not particularly worried about it, just curious).

They wouldn’t. Don’t be so paranoid. Unless you got written up by a sworn officer, you’re not going to have anything on a publicly-accessible record.

LOL

Chill. Nothing bad will ever come out of this.

nothing will happen. next time say you werent drinking and dont give them your name and just walk out.
