Undergrad engineering to transfer

Hi All,

I've been looking at undergrad engineering programs to transfer into. A major part of my decision is an urban or vibrant campus, exciting things to do, and a larger environment. I currently go to a liberal arts college with a very good reputation, and so the advice I got was only to "transfer up".

Right now I've already written apps to:

MIT, Columbia, Penn

I'm looking at places like:

Cornell, Stanford, Yale, UCB, Hopkins. (Stanford is just really good at bioengineering, not necessarily urban)

I specifically want to do bioengineering or some flavor of it (eg at hopkins there's biochemical and there's biomechanics, both would be very cool)

I understand that there are very low acceptance rates for transfers, so I am looking around to see what I can find. Apart from the list above, are there places that are very reputable and have and urban environment that I have failed to find?

What do your college stats look like? Also SAT scores because almost all of the schools on your list require them. Most importantly how much are you able to pay?

Urban environment and top engineering program/school, I think you have to add Carnegie Mellon and Georgia Tech!

@jman: I’ll definitely do some more research! Thanks

@invader: My SATs are decent, 2100, with better ACTs (33). For the foreseeable future, I won’t require financial aid. Thanks for the feedback

I would second the recommendation of Georgia tech. Another school you should look into is Cooper Union.
