Hey, I'm currently a freshman at Cornell (College of Engineering) and I'm thinking about transferring for next year because the tuition is too high. I don't want to spend so much money on undergraduate since I'm planning to go to medical school x

So I'm hoping to transfer to either a state school (NY residence) or a private school that will offer me a decent amount of merit scholarship

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on where I can transfer to?

Looking for a descent school...
- In northeast region (NY, PA, MA, region)
- With good bioengineering/biomedical engineering and environmental engineering
- Preferably in a city near a hospital (premed and hoping to get some clinic experience during school xP)

Some stats about me...
- SAT 1600/2330
- GPA (HS) 3.92 out of 4.0 (not sure about first semester at CU engineering hee hee hee xP)
- Lots of extracurricular (volunteer, work, clubs, sports) (Member of Cornell Tradition)
- Received a lot of awards for art and some math (and others) in HS

It would also be great if someone could give me a brief summary or tips about the process of transferring? (I'm still not sure about transferring so haven't looked into it much)

All help is greatly appreciated and thankies in advance! ^ ^

i think you would be good for admissions

but if you have a quick second can you please check out the last thread i posted and give me your opinion, it would be greatly appreciated.

? I was looking for suggestions on Universities I can transfer to, not my chances of getting into them xP

But sure, I’ll look at your thread and hopefully be able to provide some helpful advice x3

UCONN has great programs. I applied for the engineering school their. You could do your graduate at Yale hospitals or something. I don’t know how that works or anything though.

That your UPENN if they have those programs. Those would be the two I would recommend from the N.E area off the top of my head.

Blazinbboy:: My most important factor is the tuition. I don’t think I’ll receive any scholarships for UPENN but does UCONN offer merit scholarships?

I found this link but it seems like merit based maybe only towards high school seniors?

[Scholarships - UConn Student Financial Aid Services](Scholarships | Office of Student Financial Aid Services)

I texted a couple of my friends attending UCONN just now, one in mechanical engineering and the other in Economics, so I’ll respond with a little more helpful information shortly.

Well financial aid/scholarship and what UCONN gave them.

But depending on your situation, I bet they would give you some sort of merit scholarship. I could only say just call the Financial Aid office and see if that will help.

(UPDATE: well the MechE said he got like $900. He doesn’t qualify for financial aid because his father works at the nuclear power plant making $100k+. Its pretty much the same for the Econ major. His dad is an Operator making like $200k. Haha I guess I should have remembered that stuff since I work with them. D= )

Ahh thank you very much! <'3
My parent’s income doesn’t qualify me for financial aid so I’m hoping to transfer to a decent school that is either cheap or will give me a lot of scholarship
$900 isn’t very much though =\
But now I have a place to start looking at for schools xD

University of miami → I think they have transfer scholarships 16k -25k
