I'm a rising senior, and am seriously considering completing my undergraduate studies in the United Kingdom. I've done a ton of research, but could use a little help! I was really attracted to the specified courses available in the UK, especially International Business and German plus the large selection of other courses combined with German. I spent the majority of my junior year in Germany on a merit based, congressional scholarship. So I would definitely incorporate this into my personal statement. I'm graduating in January and my GPA should 3.75 (roughly) because I studied abroad I missed about a semester's worth of classes and won't be able to take the SAT until October. I'm expecting to make around a 1300, I'm taking a SAT prep class but I don't usually test well on standardized tests. I was only able to take one AP class my sophomore year, and didn't take the exam. I did make a 4 on the AP German exam though, even though my school doesn't offer AP German. Here are the universities I'm thinking of applying to for International Business with German:

If anybody could help me determine my chances of being accepted at these schools, or offer any advice or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!

Hey. I’m not fully aware of what the stats are for accepted applicants from the US. I would say, however, that you have a great GPA and SAT for all of them (maybe with the exceptions of Warwick and Durham, but again, I don’t know how lenient they are with US applicants).

You’ll have to contact them to ask what they’re looking for. UK universities are notorious for outdated website information and for ignoring emails, so I’d call them.

Warwick is probably the most overrated university in the UK. Really it isn’t that good. I wish people would stop wetting their pants over it lol! Durham is hawt though!

UK schools don’t really care about GPA I don’t think. If you do well on the SAT plus subject tests I think you have a good chance, and also take AP tests and try to do well on them (unis don’t care if you ‘took the course’ but that you did well on the test). The PS is all academic so definitely waffle about CBYX there, and try to get a good academic rec about your suitability for the uni course you want to study and then I think you have a good chance - many unis are eager to take internationals because of the additional fees they pay.

Studying in Germiany is definitely the sort of thing they love to see in a personal statement. Showing you are dedicated to your subject.

I would re-think Hull (or at least further research). Supposedly the grimmest place on earth. I’ve heard someone who lived there say there is a reason it’s only one vowel from hell! See if you can find a clip of the Blackadder sketch about the finest universities in England.
