Undergrad in the UK

I'm a rising senior, and am seriously considering completing my undergraduate studies in the United Kingdom. I've done a ton of research, but could use a little help! I was really attracted to the specified courses available in the UK, especially International Business and German plus the large selection of other courses combined with German. I spent the majority of my junior year in Germany on a merit based, congressional scholarship. So I would definitely incorporate this into my personal statement. I'm graduating in January and my GPA should 3.75 (roughly) because I studied abroad I missed about a semester's worth of classes and won't be able to take the SAT until October. I'm expecting to make around a 1300, I'm taking a SAT prep class but I don't usually test well on standardized tests. I was only able to take one AP class my sophomore year, and didn't take the exam. I did make a 4 on the AP German exam though, even though my school doesn't offer AP German. Here are the universities I'm thinking of applying to for International Business with German:

Queen's University Belfast
Warwick
Durham
Sussex
Cardiff
Swansea
Southampton
Aberystwyth
Hull
Reading

If anybody could help me determine my chances of being accepted at these schools, or offer any advice or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!

It might be challenging without APs, since that’s primarily what English colleges appear to look at. They won’t look at your GPA or extracurriculars or anything like that. But I think some will take SAT IIs instead of AP scores if that’s all you’ve done, so you should probably take subject tests as well. But I’m just learning about the whole process, too, so I’m no expert.

I’ve also heard that APs and SAT scores are really important during the admission process, but I’ve also heard that admission is relatively easy compared to US schools, especially for international students. I keep hearing conflicting opinions, but unfortunately studying abroad kept me from being able to take any APs my junior year, I guess I’ll just apply and see what happens. Thanks so much for your help though, are you looking into applying in the UK as well?

Yeah! I’m really excited about it. I’ve already filled out a lot of my UCAS application. I think they may be somewhat lenient since international students pay far higher tuitions and I’m sure they want the money.

Goodluck OP, i really know nothing about SATs or APs so i cant offer any pearls if wisdom! I’m curious, why Swansea?

I think this is just a myth. They get the same amount of money from UK/EU students just that he government subsidises most of it.

Swansea appealed to me because it looks like it’s in a beautiful location, the tuition’s very reasonable and it’s a lot smaller than Cardiff (I think I’d be better off at a slightly smaller university.) It’s not really my first choice, and I’m not even sure if I’m going to apply there. Is there something wrong with Swansea? (just wondering as I see you’re from the UK)

Well im just surprised an international student would consider it. Its probably a good place to study, in all honestly i dont know much about it. But if i were paying international fees i wouldn’t settle for good, id want great.

My own child is studying in Cardiff next year … lovely city, very easy to navigate and very student-friendly … best of luck to you!
