How hard is it for undergrads at UCLA to get accepted into UCLA school of medicine. I heard that they don't like their own undergrads. I plan on studying Biology at LA then moving into UCLA med school directly from UCLA, is it possible or highly unlikely that I will get accepted to their Med. school? I also heard that it is better to go to a NeoIvy and then come to UCLa med school because there is a higher admit rate, say from johns hopkins, is this true? Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks

i don't think UCLA purposely discriminates against its own students, therefore just get high grades and u'll be considered. As to ur question about "neoivy's" it doesn't matter which undergrad institution u attend for undergrad. People from all over the US and from all tiers of schools make it to top med progs.

UCLA undergrads have the largest representation out of all the undergraduates accepted by the UCLA medical school. So I would say you have an advantage.

Then again UCLA has the largest number of pre-med applicants many of whom probably apply to UCLA med school as well as many others.

wow I have actually heard the opposite, I have been told that about each year 12 undergrads from UCLA go straight to UCLA med. I don't which to believe, but it seems like you guys have the empirical knowledge, thus I will go with you guys. Thanks for your inputs.

12 can still be a large representation if they took only 1 or 2 people from other schools.

UCLA Medical School has a ~5% admit rate.
It's going to be a Super Reach whether you're a UCLA undergrad or not.
