hi guys i am desperate for some advice

can't pick between these schools because i love them all
could you rank these in terms of overall business programs' strengths with criteria like job placement, teaching quality, opportunities?
if it helps, i do plan on acquiring an mba later..

THANKS

You cannot go wrong with any of those schools. Were you admitted into any of those schools’ BBA programs or are you pursuing a liberal arts education? If the latter, any of those universities will serve you very well. I would go for fit.

i’ve been admitted to nyu stern, washu olin, and cmu tepper

but if i do go to either umich or emory, i plan on applying to ross or goizueta and i feel comfortable with taking that risk

i think i have narrowed my choices to umich and stern because of their renowned business schools but i do not want to discount the others just yet

i am looking for an environment in which i will be academically challenged, where peers would provide friendly competition so that i am motivated to do well

sometimes i wonder if the strength of the school as a whole is more important than the strength of the business program itself

If you are willing to take the risk, then Ross and Stern are probably your best bet, although all of those schools have strong BBA programs.

I also wouldn’t worry too much about healthy competition (you can find it at any of those universities) or about the strength of those schools as a whole (all of those universities are considered elite).

Personally, I would take Michigan honors and double major in Economics and Mathematics. Leave Business studies for graduate school…which you intend on doing anyway.

I would have to agree with Alexandre are you instate for Michigan?

thanks for the advice, i will most definitely take that into consideration

no i am not instate, i live in nj but cost is not an issue

how would i go about finding stats on job placement or internship opportunities? i am curious as to whether nyu really has the advantage for business related jobs

i absolutely love michigan, but cannot convince myself yet just because i am not sold on the feel of a public university vs that of a private university. i have been told that the two are very different. will michigan offer the same level of competition despite its favoring of in state candidates?

Michigan is very diverse in terms of the number of OOS it admits. And I would get over the public / private deal if you love Michigan - it wouldn’t be the first time someone turned down Stern for Ross and it won’t be the last.

iamindecisive, Michigan is not a typical public university. 50% of Ross students are OOS (10% of them international). Even if you look at the entire undergraduate student body, 35% of students come from OOS (5% international).

Financially, Michigan’s endowment stands at $6 billion. Only HYPSM have larger endowments. NYU’s endowment stands at $2 billion, and NYU has as many students as Michigan and does not receive state funding as Michigan does.

Finally, when it comes to graduate school and professional placement, Michigan does at least as well as the other schools on your list. Ross actually publishes very detailed annual reports. 2009 was obviously a down year for recruitment activities across the nation, so looking at figures from 2005-2008 fugures may be much more telling.

CMU’s Tepper also does a pretty good job of breaking it down:

[Career and Professional Development Center : Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon<a href=“click%20on” title=“Class of 2009 statistics”>/url for the goods!

Other BBA programs on your list do not seem to provide the same amount of detail, although I am sure their placements are also impressive.

WUSTL-Olin

For some reason, Stern and Goizuetta do not share much information.

wow thanks so much for the links!
i am currently in between umich and nyu and have surely eliminated the other 3
although i love michigan, i love the city as well
just not sure i want to spend my only 4 years of undergraduate education not at a college campus

at this point, i think i will end up choosing by fit tomorrow

what is the difference between graduating from ross with a BBA and graduating from stern with a BS in a certain concentration? like are there advantages or disadvantages to any one degree?
