I will be entering college (UF) this fall as a freshmen and I am deciding among the majors finance, accounting, and industrial engineering (I do know that the accounting major at UF is renowned).

I want to get internships at financial companies, but it seems most of them want a business/econ/finance/accounting degree.

Some of them say engineering wanted.

Some of them simply say coursework in corporate finance (which is not even really covered where I am going).

If I majored in industrial engineering and took a few finance electives, even minored in accounting, could I have a shot at the internships that do not say engineering wanted? I want to broaden opportunities, as it seems quant internships are more rare (at least it seems that way from my research). Are internships more about showing you know the coursework or having that major?

The reason I want to do engineering is because it would help getting quantitative/trading jobs or open up other fields if I choose to do them.

Thanks.
