Undergraduate Scholarship Question

I posted this in the Villanova section, but I don't think anyone was really sure. Now I'm even more curious though because I found out that I got accepted today.

I apologize if this is a very dumb question (or has been asked before; I wasn't sure how to search for this topic).
I missed the deadline to apply for one of Nova's scholarships, and I am applying as a first-year applicant. In the event that I attend Nova next year, would it be possible to apply for the scholarship next year? I applied for financial aid as well, and I'm assuming that I would need to discontinue receiving aid but still pay for the first year, but again, this might be a dumb question and not applicable for an undergraduate period. Or, it may also be college-specific.

Thank you!

I can only give you a generalized answer, not one specific to your school. Most schools have separate scholarships for incoming freshman, transfer students, and continuing students. Generally the incoming freshman scholarships are the highest and most generous. Often this is because they are trying to attract students with higher than average stats (having these students will increase the school’s average stats). Generally these scholarships are only for freshman students and you will not be eligible to apply for them as a continuing students. Many schools do also offer some scholarships for existing and continuing students. You will be eligible to apply for those (if your school has them). However they often much more limited in number and less generous than the freshman scholarships.

You would need to check with your own school for specifics.
