Undocumented Student Requesting Financial Aid

I am living in California with undocumented status. Does anyone know how my undocumented status would affect my chances at Stanford, considering I am applying for financial aid and might be put into the international pool? I know that non-U.S. citizens/permanent residents are considered international, but I have been living here my whole life and am wondering how they would consider my case. What do you think?

In terms of financial aid, you would be considered to be international. Only Pomona is need-blind to undocumented students, aside from schools that were need-blind for all applicants anyway.

I would call admissions at every school and explain your situation up front. Some schools will accept undocumented immigrants, some will not, some will give money, some will not. Best to focus on the ones that can help…

Thank you @International95 and @jackrabbit14 . I have already been considering Pomona and yes, jackrabbit14, I am aware that each school has its own policies. I’m wondering if anyone in my situation had any experience with Stanford admissions since Stanford publicly states that any non-U.S. citizen or permanent resident is considered international, yet there is a Stanford Daily article (“Undocumented students encounter limited Stanford experience”), which mentions that “the admissions process considers such students [undocumented students] on a case-by-case basis.” Based on their wording and friendly stance toward undocumented immigrants, it almost seems like undocumented students are given special consideration. Maybe I am just hoping for too much!

Not sure if you’re interested, but just saw that Georgetown is need-blind for undocumented applicants and thought about this post.

Just an update, I found out that those who qualify for AB 540 are considered domestic at Stanford. I am not sure what their policy for undocumented students without AB 540 is.
