I'm 18 and I've recently lost about 15 pounds within a month and a half without doing anything. I have been around 125 for the past 3 years and am now at 113.. which I haven't been since I was a freshman in high school or even 8th grade. I haven't been exercising and might be eating a tad healthier but not too much. I was really stressed out over a LDR for a while but not as much anymore and I still eat! Everyone I talk to about it has said they're concerned and my mom said she isn't really liking this because she knows this isn't normal for me. I am scared to tell anyone now. what should I do?? I can't tell if this isn't that much weight lost or if this is significant enough to do something. It's starting to become noticeable on my legs and waist though, my friends from other colleges have pointed in out when they've seen me. Help, please.

Go to your student health center and get an expert opinion.

Go to the doctor. Sudden weight loss (like sudden weight gain) is usually not a good sign.

Get it checked out. It could be normal since you are probably walking a lot more than in H.S. and your food intake has dropped some over the stress and the healthier diet but it could be also be something that needs medical attention. Don’t be scared of having this checked it. Most things at your age are easily treatable. I guarantee that you will feel better after having it checked out.

Go ask a doctor about it.

It’s likely that it’s nothing, but if it is something, you want to know about it sooner rather than later. I know many students who lost weight at college because they were walking a lot more than they did in high school and they were eating less (not in an unhealthy way, but because they didn’t have a stocked fridge 24/7 and actually needed to make an effort to get food). But it’s still worth getting a professional opinion about it. If nothing else, it will alleviate your worries to figure out what’s actually going on.
