Unfortunate Essay Error

Hi,

I wrote a nice college writing supplement for my number one college choice and I must admit, it is a good essay. I reworked and reworked and I finally submitted it. Upon reading over my essay (which I can't un-send) I noticed that I named the school incorrectly "______ College of _" instead of "School of _". I correctly named it in the final paragraph, but the error was made in the first paragraph. The main focus of my essay was to show that I have a complete 100% undeniable understand of the schools curriculum, which I definitely did/do. Which is why I am floored that I made that mistake without noticing. Anyway, should I call admissions and get them to change it since I already submitted the common application?

Thanks.

My honest, unprofessional opinion is that it won’t be that big of a deal. Admissions know that not everybody is perfect, and the error is so small that they’re likely to overlook it completely. Calling, at this point, would seem a bit excessive.

Calling will just call attention to the error. You can’t do anything about it now, so try to let it go. This kind of error if, unfortunately, very common. It’s not good, but it’s also not an automatic rejection.
