Sold a bill of goods??

yeah? who hasnt heard this before?

w00t STANFORD w00t (i hope i get in)

Yeah, I saw that article. I ask my friend who graduated from Harvard if he liked it there. He said he didnt have the best time. I asked him if he had to choose again, would he still have gone. He said yes.

My friend experienced the same, and I think he was a little bit jealous of how much I enjoyed Dartmouth. Seriously.

does anyone have the actual poll / data?

So what's the happiest school?

meh, the prestige balances it

They have a graphic depicting the poll results of Harvard on the right frame in the page. There is also another pole below it showing the average results of the 30 other COFHE schools to compare Harvard's results too.

FYI the other 30 COFHE schools are :

Amherst
Barnard
Brown
BrynMawr
Carleton
Columbia
Cornell
Dartmouth
Duke
Georgetown
Harvard
Johns Hopkins
MIT
MountHolyoke
Northwestern
Oberlin
Pomona
Princeton
Radcliffe
Rice
Smith
Stanford
Swarthmore
Trinity
University of Chicago
University of Pennsylvania
University of Rochester
Washington University
Wellesley
Wesleyan
Williams
Yale

The Princeton Review has a ranking of happiest students:

I wonder what the 4 schools lower than Harvard are. I know whats number 1 in happiness - Upenn! woot woot

Hahaha Choco. I think Columbia could give Penn a run for its money. ;). Yes, Harvard is a great school...for graduates...

i would guess the top in happiness are (in no particular order): dartmouth, penn, northwestern, duke, brown, stanford .

the worst i would guess (again in no particular order) are : MIT, Harvard, UChicago, JHU, Cornell.

the only one that's a toss up is Georgetown because their student body is really divided. Half the people are hardcore gtown lovers and the other half are depressed about not getting into an ivy. There are a ton of articles in gtown publications that talk about this "ivy envy" that leads to a depressing feeling on campus.

Jaug, you are misinformed! I hang out with Columbia undergrads all the time, and they are not that happy. I would say its lower than Harvard.

I agree with Bern's list 100%.

Northwestern! I's a happy place (when it's warm)!

actually, I'd say that there really isn't a depressed feeling on campus here at Georgetown. Compared to my visits/stays at Penn, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, JHU, and of course I'm a student at Gtown, I'd say that it definitely has a more happy feeling than harvard, cornell, and possibly JHU. Yale I was a little indifferent towards. I LOVED Penn, it has a really vibrant feeling, and although I do believe that I get that feeling more at Penn than Georgetown, it's definitely not a depressing place to be. I'd say the majority of students don't really care about not getting into other schools, at least after a week or so here. Lots of ppl wanted to go here in the first place, and we actually wear our Georgetown hats/shirts here, lol. There are people that have "ivy envy", but I'd say it's the same as people found at Penn, Cornell, etc. that didn't get into Harvard, Yale,Princeton, etc.

Sorry if I went on, I tend to do that, esp. when talking about my school, lol. :)

HOYA SAXA

oh, bern are you talking about that josh zumbrun article from 2003? Don't get me started on him. He's basically a sensationalist, and likes to make ridiculous claims. He gets negative responses to many of his viewpoints.

Sigh....lol.

yeah ill probably be one of those people at penn or columbia that was aiming for HYP, but i wont be negative about it! cuz penn and columbia are awesome too =)

Hey guys - check out the Harvard article again. It's students rate their satisfaction at 4 on a scale of 5, and the average of all the others is between 4.1 and 4.2. The real point of the survey is that everyone's pretty happy at the COFHE campuses.
