Remember to take along the computer that holds all of his information and essays, etc.–or put it all on a USB drive or Dropbox. Also, have copies of transcripts of you can for walk-ins.
Look up Secret of Thieves to see if that’s a must for you and/or your son. It is for us. I found out about it through CC threads about staying healthy. A lot of performers use it to try to fend off germs. Along that line, we also take and pack vitamins, probiotics, and natural things that promote a good night sleep.
Most important: a smile and a positive, helpful attitude towards your son, yourself, and everyone else!
I am laughing reading this (a little jealous - it really was fun!) - whoever was staying next to us had what D called a “whistle register” - I had never heard of this, but it was truly EAR PIERCING. She woke us up each morning . Of course, D went to her coach’s room to warm up, so his neighbors were probably NOT happy either… We had no time for shopping, but did hit the Target for something minor we forgot. As long as you have your book, chargers & dance clothes/shoes (take in your carry-on!), anything forgotten can always be purchased. Dropbox=safety net! It’s crazy, but so much fun. And, I keep saying this: Miller’s Pub!!! BREAK LEGS EVERYONE! You are making memories!!!
They did! My S auditioned for BFA acting programs at Emerson, Rutgers, CCPA, SUNY purchase, Point Park, and Pace (BFA acting and BFA FTVC)
I have to say it seemed somewhat quiet from what I heard hear on CC about UNIFIEDS. Not crazy hectic. PACE was crowded, but I found them to be pretty well organized.
Something we did not realize is that Pace was eliminating kids from the BFA ACTING (only) program at the audition. If you didn’t get asked to stay for a movement callback after your audition, you were out of the running. From what we gathered, 12 kids were called back from those that auditioned on Sunday.
More stress! With that forecast I am starting to wonder if we will get in there Sunday. We have an early morning flight to Chicago and a 2:30 dance call. Isn’t there already enough to worry about?
…folding snow shovel and a bag of rock salt - little big for the carry-on… but Check.
oh? you want moooooore to worry about do ya?
“1st CASE OF MEASLES COMES TO NORTHERN ILLINOIS”
“This wildly infectious disease can linger in the air and on surfaces for hours after the infected person has left the room. Unlike many diseases, people can be infectious during the incubation period, even though they show no outward signs of the disease. For every person that gets the disease, on average they will pass it to 18 other people.”
“Symptoms include: Fever, Dry cough, Runny nose, Sore throat, Inflamed eyes (conjunctivitis), Tiny white spots with bluish-white centers on a red background found inside the mouth on the inner lining of the cheek — also called Koplik’s spots, a skin rash made up of large, flat blotches that often flow into one another that start on the face and cover the rest of the torso. The infection occurs in sequential stages over a period of two to three weeks.”
See? There’s nothing to worry about. This weekend will be a breeze!
BAL to all of you in Chicago this weekend! Hope you’re all there by now and not affected too much by the winter storm warning. I guess the worst thing that could happen is that you’ll be stuck in that great city for a couple of extra days.
Unfortunately we have to try to get in tomorrow morning. D’s last performance of her high school musical is tonight. Would have flown in today otherwise. Fingers crossed, not much else we can do.
Break a leg to everyone going to Chicago! Enjoy the moments. The time in Chicago with my D is one of my favorite memories of the process. Wishing all of you a great week!
Good luck to all coming to Unifieds in the Windy City!! We are actually very good about cleaning up the snow quickly. Unless it is a crazy, huge storm it shouldn’t effect you at all once you arrive. Take a deep breath and enjoy this experience. We really had a lot of fun and have lots of great memories from this process. And it does work out the way that it is meant to. Trust all of us who have done it before. Good luck and welcome to Chicago!!
