Unifieds

Apparently UMich wasn’t there…

Crap how am I supposed to get accepted now?

And there aren’t any scheduled auditions on the west coast…sigh, they should really hold auditions in LA or something.

UMich wasn't where? Chicago? I have a student who auditioned for UMich early this week in Chicago. UMich is not part of Unifieds but still holds auditions in Chicago at the same time that Unifieds are held.

Also, to be considered at UMich, you would have had to have applied in the fall, gone through an academic screening and been INVITED to audition. You cannot just show up at the last minute. Doesn't work that way.

If you wanted to be considered, you had to apply.

citrusburst - UM does the Unifieds in Chicago, though their only other off-campus auditions are in New York in early March (not Unified time, obviously). Soozievt is right, though - you can't do walk-ins for them because in order to audition you have to pass an academic screening first. Sorry - you can always try again in the fall as a transfer.

Something else to realize about UMich, in case you want to go there regardless. You should apply to the MT program, of course, but also to a "safety" school such as liberal arts. That way, if you don't make the MT cut, you cna still go to UMich. If you don't pass the audition, you don't go to the school otherwise. Not every school is like that, however.

Can someone send me any information about unified auditions? How do you find out the dates and which schools will be there?

Here's the website for Unifieds. I'm not sure what the exact dates for next year will be, but they will probably be these same weekends. Included in the website are the list of schools that attend. If you keep an eye on CC, Dr. John from Otterbein College always seems to post the dates in the fall even before the website does.
