I know this has been posted here before but what is the website where I can find statistics on different colleges (so that I can compare them)? I am particularly interested in dropout rates for admitted students. I thought there was something called "Uniform statistics" but I must be remembering wrong.

Usually there is a % for students graduating in 4 yrs, and for students graduating in 6 yrs. There is also a Freshman retention rate. Usually there is not a dropout rate posted. Look for the Common Data Sets.

Yes. The common data sets. This sounds familiar. I will google that.

I forgot to say thank you.

There is a HUGE thread here on College Confidential directing readers to many of those links.

I like the college section at collegeboard.com. It contains most information of the common data set and it is a lot easier to navigate.

Another good source for this information is the College Navigator website operated by the National Center for Education Statistics:

College Navigator - National Center for Education Statistics

In addition to the College Navigator site, this site is also useful for comparing colleges: EdTrust - College Results Online It uses the same data source as College Navigator (government collected data) but allows you to generate more detailed and individual reports.

If you're looking for data strictly on private colleges, try this site: U-CAN:University and College Accountability Network - U-CAN Profiles It is a series of uniform profiles of independent colleges, created using the data from their common data sets, that make comparisons easier.

I got most of my early information from a combination of petersons.com and princetonreview.com.

There's a new website called UCan. U-CAN:University and College Accountability Network - Free. Easy.. It has info on nearly 1000 private colleges. They might include publics at some future date. It was set up as a non-profit to provide people an alternative to the USNWR Rankings that still provides easily comparable data.
