Union College Early Decision

My son applied ED1 to Union College and is getting anxious. I have heard applicants will have there letters by the 15th. Does anyone have any insight on Union ED or the school itself? Thanks !!!

I think applying ED to union gives you a huge advantage...they like to accept people they know they will attend.
Union is a great school and although it wasn't my first choice it's turned out better than I ever thought it would. It's a lot of fun and I can't believe all the opportunities I've taken advantage of as only a Freshmen (research, extracurriculars, etc).
Good luck!

My son heard yesterday from Union via a letter in the mail that he was accepted. They should be rolling in about now. Good luck!

Can you tell me about the letter/package? I heard last year it was two pages inside in a regular size envelope. Does it say anything on the outside of the envelope? Also what state are you in? Thanks !!!

It was a regular sized envelope with two pages in it. We are in the Boston area. How about you?

Firstborn - thanks for the information. We are in the NY Metro area.

Got the mail today (Wednesday) and the letter was not there. Hopefully tomorrow. Anyone else hear today or who is still waiting? Lots of views but few posts !!!
Thanks

My daughter is waiting too. I spoke to a coach today who said there were letters going out today and tomorrow, so hopefully soon. The coach had told me that admissions sends out several batches of letters. Hope this sheds some light.

mlmom - my son just got home as school got let out early due to snow. The letter was there and HE GOT IN !!!!!!!!!!YES !! YES !! YES !!

I am really proud and excited for him. I think Union is a great fit. Just want to thank "firstborn", "mythree sons", "unionmom", "nbinks", "rm32" for all the great information and advice on Union.

mlmom - best of luck with your daughter !!!

Great news!! I already ordered a Union car decal and surprised my son. It arrived today and it is proudly displayed on his car. I think all the built up anxiety got to him and now he is home sick in bed with strep...

My son is very interested in applying to Union next fall. What was the one thing that made each of your children feel strongly enough to submit an ED application?

Also, my son is thinking he would like to play soccer in college at the DIII level--do you know if or how Union recruits?

If this helps... my son loved the physical campus plus he visited on a day when a professor was helping students paint inside one of the Minervas and he thought it was really cool that a professor was so hands on and so accessable to the students. The size is just right and all the people he met were welcoming and nice. YOu have to visit to really get a feel for it. He visited on three different trips. One time for the full day event they hold for prospective students.

boysx3, have your son email the coach and express his interest in the program and the school. Explain briefly why he is interested, including Union itself (academic, small and personal), etc. Your son should talk about his athletic and academic credentials. Give the coach a copy of his HS and/or club schedule if he is playing in the spring and once you know if your son will be at any recruiting camps this summer (I assume they have those for soccer), let him know which ones. You can do the same for any school of interest. Also, tape his games this year and make a DVD that is perhaps 5 - 10 minutes long of him playing, starting with him speaking to the camera saying who he is, where he is from, who he plays for, his position, what he is looking for in a school. End the DVD with a slide giving all the pertinent information (name, address, school, email address, phone #). Do not have fancy effects or music -- coaches reportedly hate that stuff. Also have full game tapes/DVDs in case a coach wants one of those.

Hey, student from the Boston area here. Just got in ED! Wooo
