I am trying to prioritize colleges, and want to reduce my list to about 6 colleges to apply to. So, I have to choose between Union and University of Rochester.

I want to major in neuroscience... Which is the better choice? (based on premed/neuroscience)

Big differences between the two: Union is a small LAC, U of R a research university. But both will prepare you for med school even if you decide not to do neuroscience. (In fact, just about any college will prepare you for med school.) I’d recommend you read up on each, and decide by fit: where would I be happier? Where will I have an easier time thriving academically?

Pre-med? Class-wise either, but U of R has their hospital right across the street from campus making it super easy to shadow, volunteer, or do research there - no commute needed.

Neuroscience? U of R. Check out the class offerings, the professor specialties, and the research opps and compare them.

Interested in research? U of R easily wins and has a “research culture” among the undergrads with a vast majority choosing to participate in it somewhere - not just science majors. Not so interested in research? Union will probably fit better as you won’t feel so out of place.

Overall, I suggest visiting both to see which one fits you better. Just because a school is good/better/whatever doesn’t mean it’s better for you. Students do best with a good fit, esp if considering med school.
