Hello everybody, I am an undergraduate student studying engineering at a Midwestern state university. Unfortunately my experience here has been less than ideal and I am looking to transfer out and study business. One of my top picks is Berkeley Haas.

Unfortunately my GPA here took a big bashing, and is currently 2.9. One approach I have been thinking about is moving to the bay area and enrolling in a community college there, and then applying for transfer to Haas, and several other top business schools.

I heard from others that something like this has been done before, I am really looking to change my course of study and do something I really enjoy. I know UCB gives heavy preference to CA CC Transfers, so if I put in top performance at the CC I will be able to enroll in UCB. I'd like to know if this idea is a possibility, and also will my academic performance at my previous undergraduate school be a severe detriment to my application.

Your previous 2.9 will still be there but if you can get a 4.0 in your remaining classes you can boost it to a 3.7+ which will help you in getting into Cal.

I remember seeing a thread like this a few page back if you can search for it. With how you can establish residence in 1 year and apply as a Cal CC student. Not exactly sure what their policy is.

My advice call Cal and ask before you uproot your life.

i moved here from an oos 4 year and stared in ccc just bto establish res and to have ccc status for when i applied. we will see how it works out. that being said, i am applying in a non-impacted major and already had a 3.7…i would weigh your options, but nothing beats the bay area! if you dont get in, at least you will love where you live!
