how much do essays matter?

Penn will say: REJECTEDDDDDDD!!!

This essay lacks organization, originality, content, and YOU NEVER RESPONDED TO THE PROMPT: WHY PENN??? Do you like Locust Walk, the West Philadelphia Tutoring Project, Locust Walk, any specific student association, the Jon Huntsman building, Philadelphia's coffee shops, etc?? What does a Wharton degree do for you?? What does a Huntsman degree do for you??

All we know is that you're interested in business, Ben Franklin, and international relations.

So, the question begs to be asked, WHY PENN??

The essays must not have mattered much for me because mine were pretty bland but I still got in. Hell, I used a lot of this essay for my "why chicago" essay. I guess what I did do is answer what courses of study I really like at Penn and why it trumps all other colleges.

a lot if youre just on the edge, but won't make a huge difference if you're not qualified/overqualified

eivl asian dictator. you're retarded. i'm going to laugh in april when i get into huntsman you idiot. your arrogance will not only get you rejected from penn, but also from girls, jobs, and life. what did you write? "oh the romance of locust walk captivated my heart." wow. you can get that much from reading a brochure. not only that, not many people visit penn, and can't write about the campus. so try not to talk smack so much, and we'll see in april, and in life, how you get rejected.

Check your PM box. I sent you what I wrote.

Look I don't know whether I will get into Wharton, but you're definitely not going into Huntsman if all your essays were like that unless you get reallllly lucky.

Like your screenname says "reality sucks", and the reality is Huntsman accepts 50 people every year, many of whom will have much better scores, grades, essays, and EC's than you.

You really can't take criticism well can you??

EAD, I'd be curious to read your essay, if you wouldn't mind, if you think it's a prime example of an essay that'd get you in.

I, too, would be curious to read your essay EAD. How can i pass up the chance to read such an amazing piece of writing?

Yeah, I'm very curious about your essay as well and would like to read it.

realitysucks, I'd love to read your essay.

realitysucks, way to PM me your essay, and EAD, let me take a look at your essay. I want to see a "good" one.

lol EAD so would I so I could use a good standard for comparison. if you don't it's fine, but i'm really curious since you made it sound so convincing in only a few short words on a forum.

Could I read it too?

send it to me...i wanna read it

i wanna read it too!

pm it. i want to read.

Pm me, por favor.

Also, I think the question isn't just Why Penn.. it's "Why are you a MATCH for Penn." I like that you put table tennis in your essay.. but you were supposed to also convince them why they should pick you...
remember you have to answer the questions: why penn? and why YOU.

sorry venkater, i thought i pmed it. btw, anyone who wants to read my huntsman essay, its pretty awesome. my friend from wharton said he'd consider putting it in one of the economist newspapers he helps write.

thats not why i ptu it in there htouhg, founding the club = entrepreneurial spirit

Reading your "Why Penn" essay seemed like you were browing the common app for Ivys, looked at the supplement, and decided to apply after seeing one program offered. Penn would expect that most people research schools earlier and make lists before looking at the apps. If the adcom is in a bad mood, or has just read a string of essays by kids applying to Penn for the hell of it, good luck.
