unit cap for csu to cc to uc transfers?

I had attended a csu last year, completing with a total of 31 units at the csu. I am currently at a cc and I wanted to stay here next year to finish my major pre reqs. I was planning to apply to UCLA next year with a total of about 90 units at the end of spring 2015. Is there a unit cap for me since I have csu credits? Would I be rejected because of the number of units I have? I'm a bio major btw!

The online description of a high-unit junior or senior is just terrible. I suggest you email UCLA admissions and get your answer directly from them.

Here is the online chart: <a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors;

So let me chime in here since I have some experience with this.

First off: YOU WILL NOT BE REJECTED BECAUSE OF THIS!

Now that you’re breathing easier, I went to Loyola Marymount and CSUN and a ton of community colleges. In fact, I had so many lower division units, I actually ended up with 5 associate degrees and 4 skill certs!

The 105 unit cap is for your community college units… all of your classes count, but only 105 of them count towards your graduation goal #. Your CSU units are not capped in the same way and are added to your graduation goal #. This is a number you shouldn’t and won’t give a crap about because you still have to take all of your required upper division units to graduate and you’ll just file the little petition to go beyond the usual #.

90 units total isn’t a big deal, I came in with over 150 lower division units, which puts me in senior standing and gives me benefits like earlier enrollment and other senior perks. Yay me. Most transfers have 90-110 which is why the cap is at 105.

Now, the rejection comes in when you have upper division units complete. That’s where things get tricky and they tend to look at you differently and it becomes an issue. As long as all of your… or at least most of your stuff is lower division. Don’t sweat it.

Looks like the new PDF changed some things as opposed to last year. I talked to a counselor yesterday at UCLA since I needed the petition to go over my max units, and he said they’re still accepting as long as you haven’t taken upper division units.
