Unit cap for Engineering transfers?

Hey everyone, so I will be applying to CPP Fall 2016. I am intending to apply as an Engineering Technology major, and I’m little concerned with the fact I’ll have above 70 units. Now I could stay well below mid 90’s in credits if I don’t finish the whole series of classes assist has for the major, but I’m not too entirely sure if I should not finish it. The school website says I only have to finish up to Calc 3, and thats all I need for admission. Even then though, I’ll have 78 units(I have 63 units in GE’s and what not).

Also another little twist is that I actually transferred to SLO and had to leave after a year because I lost my Cal Grant for supposedly being in school for too long(starting my second year at CP SLO was my fifth year of college if you counted my time in the CC). I couldn’t afford it after that so I had to leave(and there was no way I was gonna get another loan) and I was also a different major. I also had a change of heart while I was there and discovered my love for engineering, and thats what I wanna pursue now. So, I have a good number of units from that school, and I was thinking of not even putting my transcript from there when I apply. The backstory is incredibly long and messy, so please don’t judge. I’ve been on this college journey on my own all the way, and it’s hard to get it right when you lack guidance.

So, ultimately my question is, will having more than 70 units make me ineligible all together when applying? Or is there a way the school makes accommodations for Engineering transfers?

It will not make you ineligible. The excess units are essentially left behind and won’t count toward your graduation.
