Unit cap

Many of the UCs will not admit students with senior standing (students with over 90 semester units at ccs and four years combined). If I take classes at my cc this semester that will push me over the 90 semester cap, am I ineligible? The only time that I have ever taken a class from a four year university was a year and a half ago when I took one online class from UCLA Extension. I called the UC office to ask about this, and the person I spoke with (after asking her coworker about it) said that I would be ineligible. However, after seeing this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/864644-low-csu-gpa-to-ccc-to-csu-or-even-uc-possible-p2.html I’m not sure what to think.

Was the online class lower-division or upper-division?

Lower division.

The UCs will only accept 70 lower division units from community colleges. Any excess units will be considered for subject credit. However, UC credits will be added to this total. Still, you are nowhere close to being in danger.

“Students will be granted up to 70 sem/105 qtr units of credit for lower division coursework completed at any institution or any combination of institutions. For units beyond the maximum, subject credit for appropriate coursework taken in excess of this unit limitation will be granted and may be used to satisfy requirements.”

“After applying the UC lower division maximum transfer credit limitation policy, all upper division and all UC units are added to the total unit count. Use the resulting unit count in reference to column two in the chart below.”

But the resulting unit count would be around 90, so wouldn’t that make me close to being in danger?

"After applying the UC lower division maximum transfer credit limitation policy, all upper division and all UC units are added to the total unit count. Use the resulting unit count in reference to column two in the chart below."

So after they reduce your community college units to 70 transferable, THEN they apply the UC units. So depending on which class you took, add 3-5 units to 70. Still not close to 90.

Okay, I get it now. Thank you so much!
