I submitted my application in late January and have not got my decision yet. Anyone in the same situation? I heard that those those who have not got decision from U Mich yet are actually being REJECTED! Is that true? Any thread would be welcomed!
Go to the U of Michigan CC site.
Certainly many people will be rejected. But lack of notification at this point does not equate with that.
Many people deferred from early action have not heard back yet. They are sending out a few acceptances and rejections in very small dribbles - next big batch not likely until next week.
Most applicants have not heard back, but they are not certainly sending out only a few acceptances. Note than many students have already come to admitted student visit since January and there are around 8 visits left for LSA.
Applying late does have a great impact on admission? People in considerable numbers are admitted to Umich with quite low scores and less competitive ec and since I submitted in late Jan., I wonder how influential is this.
When I attended information sessions last fall, they said multiple times to submit your application as early as possible.
That is how rolling admission work.
Thanks for all, but to what extent could applying time affects one’s application?
“People in considerable numbers are admitted to Umich with quite low scores and less competitive ec and since I submitted in late Jan.”
When I read a post like this, I always wonder how the author supports the contention. If you have board scores and ec ordered by time of acceptance, I’m sure other folks on this board would love to see that data, if only to appraise their relative/conditional chance of being admitted as time passes. Having that data would allow those with the low scores and less competitive ec to game the system and time their application. In fairness to the board, I suggest that you provide that data.
@wallowant it would probably affect you if you were borderline accepted/rejected. So if you have a very similar profile as another guy, but he applied earlier he will have an advantage over you because his application might be reviewed earlier and therefore he might have an edge. But that’s just speculation. I think they say apply as early as you can because they don’t like receiving 20 000 apps two days before deadline.
For EA last year, half of the applications were received within 2 weeks before deadline. I am not sure about the RD but it may be similar (not considering those deferred from EA).
We submitted in Mid Oct-deferred in Dec. Wrote letter of burning desire; heard back from Mich Rep. #1 School for us-Most of classmate deferred. 3 accepted; 2 denied. A large number waiting. Any hope?
