Univ. of Notre Dame Prereq. Question:

Hi there,
I’m currently a junior in high school, and I attend a Catholic school in California. I was just looking at the course prerequisites that must be completed for a UND application.

On CollegeData it said that UND requires 3 years of “Academic Electives.” I, however, have only taken one academic elective (drawing), which was last year. My school requires that everyone takes 4 years of Theology, so I was wondering if that would count as an academic elective. If not, what would you recommend I do because my schedule is packed with other important AP classes for the next two years, and I don’t want to waste a valuable class on some other course? For example, should I take a summer course to make up for these two missing classes?

Thanks for the help!

You are probably not missing anything. Academic electives are any course additional to your four core courses: science, math, English, and history. Theology counts. Non-academic would be something like auto body repair or woodworking.

Most of my son’s friends had just normal high school experiences.

Awesome–Thanks for the help!
