I'm completely torn between these two unis for..um..business/econ related stuff as a major.. I heard bout U of C's awful social life..hmmmm I really dont know where to go.. where would you go if you were in my shoes?

im a senior in high school... but from what i ve heard, u have to just learn how to manage your time and keep up with your work; then u can have room for a social time. they have lots of social events and parties and such, and im sure that u will be able to find fun.
the "where fun goes to die" slogan may be true.... only if you procrastinate and get behind!!! my friend goes to uchicago and he has a social life and he's in premed. social life as in partying, hanging out w his friends and gf, etc.
and .... econ - uchicago is like THE best school for econ!!!

You could either...

Flip a coin. or...

Roll a die. or...

Ask the first person you meet and go with their decision or...

Actually think about which school you like the most and carefully weigh their merits and deficiencies. or...

Join the circus or...

Secretly enroll in both, and live a double life or...

Go on a spiritual journey to Timbuktu to express your everlasting devotion to Allah/Jesus/Buddah/The Flying Spaghetti Monster/Homer Simpson or...

Imbibe/Smoke so much alcohol/pot that you forget what college is or...

Buy a new pair of shoes. Yes - if I were in your shoes I would look down and realize...I need some new shoes. Maybe reincarnation...see option 7

If I had to choose between the two, I would probably pick the University of Chicago; however, go to the school where you would more likely "fit in." I recommend visiting both to see where you'll fit in the best.

^^ Flip a coin, flip a coin! If it's face (?) you come to UChi...

It is always face!

if you're interested in business, georgetown, as chicago doesn't have undergraduate business. If you're interested in econ, chicago's program is #1 in the country.

Go to Georgetown. Seriously.

lol (this is just filler to get over the 10 character limit)

Is the 'seriously' supposed to add something to such an ill-supported exhortation?

I am actually trying to transfer to the University of Chicago, and would love for you to provide a substantive account about why one should choose one or the other. Mere statements such as "choose school x" will not suffice, as any reasonably intelligent person who would even consider such schools should know.

I think you'd fit in at Chicago quite well, nspeds. :) For some reason, I thought you were a grad student in philosophy. I guess it's the maturity/gravity of your posts.

Georgetown has slightly better business-related employment prospects after graduation. Chicago is nerdy academia. You should go to Georgetown.

i agree... Georgetown = love.

"Is the 'seriously' supposed to add something to such an ill-supported exhortation?..would love for you to provide a substantive account...Mere statements... will not suffice..any reasonably intelligent person who would even consider such schools should know."

Your diction makes you sound like an affected pretentious twit whom I would dislike. Get over yourself, seriously! I don't know about any "maturity" or "gravity", warblersrule86 -- he definitely did an awesome job of convincing me that... I'd never like to hire or get within a fifty foot radius of him. flav is obviously concerned about the mediocre social life, and rightly so. There's no way s/he should bother considering Chicago.

flav of flav

yawn

I have no time for sciolists.

Well, I think all you need to do is read Myself's post and realize that you can't pass up the opportunity to go to school with people like that....

But on a serious note, I only applied to two schools, Gtown and Uchicago, and was offered admission to both (however, unlike you, I applied to the COL at Gtown). Anyways, it took me 2 months to come to a decision, but when I did it became very clear: Chicago is, by far, the better school. Further, if you're considering ECON, this is a no-brainer. The person who posted that you'd have better job prospects if you graduated from Gtown than Chicago has no clue what they are talking about. Chicago is known to provide one of the toughest academic experiences to its undergraduates, and its ECON department is undoubtedly one of the best in the world, if not the best.

very very true- THE BEST

i would definetely choose Chicago--no doubt about it....u want opportunities, this school provides it, when i got in last year, anyone that knew anything was AMAZED...and had the utmost respect for it, every teacher i had recommended it over Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Rice, the list goes on.....

i didn't listen though lol

nspeds, are you on the transfer blog/were you on the RD blog for UChicago. The blog was run by the adcom.

chicago > georgetown in so many ways
