I was a lottery applicant, but I managed to get an offer at Westwood Chateaus.

It's a lot cheaper than the Plaza I had last year, but I'm on a pretty tight budget, so I was wondering about food costs.

For those who live/lived in a University Apartment, or normal Apartment (I assume they are similar in regards to food), what would you say is your monthly expenditure on food?

I guess I'm looking for answers from a person who can't cook so he/she eats out all the time, a person who does cook, and a person who lives on ramen (wow does anyone REALLY do this?)

Thanks a lot everyone!

EDIT: Wow, I should have just made the title "Food costs for Apartment." I had to be silly and make it "University Apartments." Bleh.

Sorry to be so annoying with the constant bumps (this is still on the first page), but I need to figure out how much I may have to spend on food because I need to barrow a certain amount (I don't really want to barrow TOO much extra money).

it really varies...depends how busy your schedule will be, if you'll have enough time to cook and eat at home. a good idea would be to set a budget (say, $40 a week on food) and don't allow yourself to go over that.

I just want numbers because as it stands at the moment, I really have no idea what to expect. I'd just like to hear some random numbers to get a range of what I may spend. :)

If you're frugal and tend to eat what's on sale, you could get by with as little as $20-30 per week. When I cooked breakfast/lunch/dinner and I wasn't frugal, it was typically $50 per week. But that includes filet mignon or lobster/crab for dinner.
