are they furnished or at least semi-furnished? i want to live in an apartment and will probably buy a place as a junior with my dad's death insurance money but i'm thinking of living in one of the university apartments (assuming i can even manage to get one). the thing is i'm from norcal so it's not like i have a place to store couches and stuff. maybe a couch, i could prolly leave that at my brother's or my grandma's but realistically a bed... not so much. a full on fridge... not so much. oh, and can you get a meal plan with university apartments or are you on your own?

furnished.

you can buy nonresident meal plans, but it works out to ~$8 a meal. i'd rather eat out than pay $8 for dorm food.

amazing, thanks! haha i would cry so hard if i walked into an apartment and didn't have a bed.

Dining table/set, lofted beds, desks with lamps, bookcase, kitchen appliances... yes, all there...

Do most people living in apts still walk to class? Or do they drive?

is a university apartment more worth it than a regular one?

They walk. If you are close enough, you walk.

What do you mean "worth" more? Does it cost more than a normal apartment?

i think they do cost more, but utilities, internet, and cable are included. so factor that into the cost.

Oh sorry, I meant to ask that question as response to rose. I'm not sure what she is asking.

I live in a university apartment and the monthly cost comes out to be like 720ish I believe.

does anyone know the typical cost that it costs to live in an apt. in westwood

You can check listings on craigslist, facebook, etc. I've seen prices range from as low as 500ish to as high as 1300 (for a single).

For those currently living in the university apts:

How do you like it?

Do you feel that it is worth the cost?

How does the parking situation work?

I like it. It has a lot of space. It's worth the cost because depending which one you get, the price is comparable to a normal apartment.

For parking, I'm not sure. I was given on campus parking first, so I was never given apartment parking. I think if they have spaces, you'll get it. I probably would have gotten parking, but since I already had oncampus parking, I wasn't offered it.

what's the process of getting it...i heard that you hear that you get a univ. apt late summer or something like that?

I got mine through the same process as applying for Dorm. I'm not sure if uni apartment is a choice in the dorm list. I was rejected from dorm and I was given a uni apartment last minute.

Hmm that's interesting. Well, I think since it is through the university, you probably apply for it in the same way you apply for a dorm. I could be wrong though. Can anyone elaborate on this? And maybe on how, specifically, the parking spots are assigned for the apts?

if one person gets it, can you sign up for it and all your friends will be able to get in the same apt?
