Is there any type of group chat for admitted students?
Applied on 12/11, accepted on 12/15 into the honors college
SAT was 1490, weighted gpa of 97
ECs were really just two sports (cross country and track) and national honors society
I found out about my honors college acceptance in the online status update
Oh yeah, and I’m in state. Good luck to everyone applying and congratulations to everyone accepted!!
Does any know when financial aid info comes in?
Does anyone know how long it typically takes for you to get the letter in the mail after you got the acceptance online?
one to two weeks
My son received a letter yesterday from SB providing instructions on how to access the online portal, but no acceptance letter yet after getting accepted online about 3 weeks ago.
I got accepted today. So excited UB was one of my top choices.
Mind if I ask what stats?
W 90 gpa
1240 SAT
Couple of EC’s but no sports
I got accepted on 12/15 from EA with a 93 gpa, 1230 SAT, many ECs (a few clubs, sports, work, etc).
I’m just really happy since UB is my first choice
I got into UB on 11/20 it (feels like forever ago and I never got around to posting). 1410 SAT, 730 US History, 740 Math 1, 98 GPA, and got in as an Engineering and Applied Sciences Bachelor.
When you got the acceptance email did it flat out tell you you program or did you have to wait for the physical letter?
Did you guys see your scholarship amount on the acceptance letter? I haven’t seen anything yet. If not, does anyone have an idea on when FA letters come?

Admitted to Honors College bio-medical engineering! 1350 SAT, 3.85 GPA, IB diploma, prestigious science research program Hauptmann Woodward on Fridays, hockey kid, canoe guide at camp in Algonquin Park.
Congrats so far everyone! Any other acceptances lately?
Long-time lurking, first post!
Son was accepted to UB Honors College on December 1. He received notice of Provost Scholarship yesterday and hopefully is still in the running for Presidential Scholarship. We are waiting to hear from other schools (that happen to be private) but we are all thinking it’s hard to turn down the relatively low prices of a state school that is willing to give scholarships. He plans to go to med school and we have spoken to several MDs and colleagues (who have gone to UB) that say you should save your debt for medical school - something son is beginning to grasp.
Seems like people do this and for what it’s worth: 1390 SAT, 32 ACT, 97 average, 7 APs, volleyball, baseball, and football. McDonald’s, jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, pep band, a community service group - and two tired parents
Anyone have any info on minoring in music at UB?
Congrats on the acceptance and good luck with the Presidential. Both of my sons received it and it was a godsend. Older son played trumpet at UB in orchestra, jazz ensemble, various brass ensembles and lessons for all four years. He would have received a minor in music if he had taken one or two music history classes but he chose not to. Physics was enough to keep him busy.
Younger son is a freshman computer science major and just finished marching band (percussion) and loved it. He is going to play in orch or band this coming semester. I imagine he will also stay very active in music, not sure about getting a minor. There really is no benefit to his career in getting it.
Thanks for the kind words Oracoj58. My son plays trumpet as well and especially loves jazz (I hear him listening to a somebody’s screaming trumpet on his phone right now) . He just mentioned last week how he really wants to stay involved in music - even mentioned how he might like to have some paying gigs to earn money on the side. I was just thinking a minor in music might be a good way to stay involved but based on your experience, it doesn’t seem necessary.
I have several questions about the music programs at UB but I don’t want to hijack this thread - I don’t know what the rules are. Would you be willing to contact me directly by email? Your family’s experience would be very helpful.
Not sure how much I can help you with the music programs, I’d be happy to try to help. Click on my name and you can message me right on this site.
