University at Buffalo VS. Binghamton Univeristy

Hey guys! I got accepted to both university at buffalo and binghamton university but i cant decide where to go :frowning:
I am planning to go to med school after college and i want know which of the two has a better pre med program and an overall better learning environment and opportunities. I can’t visit either of the universities at the moment so can’t really get which one would be right for me. Pros / Cons of going to UB and Bing ? Opinions from admitted students who had visited ,current students or alumnus would be greatly helpful

I personally prefer Buffalo as it has the most wonderful resources, but that is not the usual opinion. Bing has more lustre, is smaller. UB is a major state uni in a major city. I give UB my vote.

Binghamton has a much better reputation where I am from (NJ). From having visited both schools, I can also say that I loved the campus much more, and it is more well known that Buffalo.

@Tooth1010‌ , did you talk to any of the counselors/ staff members while you were visiting Bing? Did they seem helpful? I am asking because I have visited a few universities where the staff seemed quite rude and not helpful at all

@Ash9622 they all seemed more helpful to me than others, but that is just my perception. All universities honestly just depend on the person you talk to in my opinion.

UB is a pretty solid school and has some strong health-related programs and its own medical school (and is building a new medical campus in downtown Buffalo). No one is going to look at you sideways if you choose Buffalo over Bing. I’ve also spent time in both cities and much prefer Buffalo over Binghamton. The city of Buffalo has some really cool neighborhoods and has been attracting a growing number of younger people who are being priced out of bigger cities.

IMO Binghamton has the superior reputation and people seem pretty happy there. My D’s has two acquaintances at Buffalo and they find it to be a big party school (t is a limited sample though).

Binghamton has the reputation thanks to it being coined as one of the early ‘Public Ivy’s’ by Richard Moll. Both UB and Stony Brook have climbed up the rankings and have closed the gap with Bing in the past decade (SBU is tied with Bing in the latest US News rankings). All three are in the that tier of really solid colleges below the elite public schools and will have plenty of opportunities for motivated students to excel.
