Our DD is considering studying abroad for one semester at UCL. According to their website, the one-semester program does NOT guarantee housing. Will housing be an issue?

We welcome advice and comments/anecdotes regarding any aspect of the experience.

Only first year students and full-year exchange students usually get uni accommodation, after that most students rent privately. If you can afford renting privately then it won’t be an issue. And UCL doesn’t have an “of” in it’s name.

Thank you, Dionysus, for that information.

I see your location is London. If you’re familiar with the area around UCL, can you offer advice about the best / worst neighborhoods in which to rent?

Nearly everyone I know at UCL lives in Camden Town or Kentish Town. If you lived there you’d be looking at a 30-40 minute walk to UCL or roughly 15 minutes on the tube. I can’t really comment on price because everyone I know who rents does so in groups with each paying between £110-£150 per week; I have no idea how much a one bedroom apartment would cost.

For more detailed information look on the University of London’s housing services website. [ULHS: Home](http://housing.london.ac.uk/cms/)
