Hi guys, I am an international transfer student currently in a CC and applied to transfer fall 2020. I’ve applied to CPP, UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, and UCR. I haven’t heard back from UCLA and UCSD yet, but the rest I’ve been accepted to, and I’m a bit lost on deciding where to go. My major is Chemical Engineering, but I’m considering changing to Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Chemistry to increase my chance of employment, and maybe minor in CompSci.
So here is my dilemma. My family can afford the tuition of UCs, but it is gonna be rough and I feel pressured/bad about spending >60k/year for UC, so I lean towards CPP, but at the same time I feel like I am giving up a big chance to go to a prestigious school with tons of opportunities. My plan is to go to CPP for undergrad and apply to UCs for grad, but I’m not sure if I’ll be accepted later on, since grad program at UCs seems hard to get in, especially in the field of CompSci. Another point to consider is that I have to stay in school for the next five years before my green card is processed (that is another story), so going to CPP for the next 3 years and then UCs for 2 years seems to fit my timetable, but is it easy/medium/difficult to apply to grad school at UCs?
Thank you so much in advance for your input
