@hiddenabyss Good for you and your family. We are thinking along the same lines. NY is becoming too affordable for us.
Question for you: Do you think the new engineering buildings (beautiful, by the way) are too far away from the main campus? Do you think this distance will cause a problem getting to and from all your other classes on the main campus?
Thanks
I think it depends on which dorm your son would be in (if he dorms) - the engineering dorms are on the far side of the main campus, so it’s a pretty long way from the engineering section. But there are some nicer new dorms, including the new Honors dorms, that aren’t that far from the engineering buildings. Plus I’m pretty sure they offer free bus/shuttle service for engineering students if its too far to walk/bike.
@hiddenabyss , if you are still around I’m curious how much of your schooling the Crown Scholars pays for as an out of state student. It says $19,000 annually. Out of state costs are stated to be around $17,000 per semester, so it seems Crown pays for just over one semester. Is that right? Or do they give you automatic in-state tuition?
@mi5kids from my understanding, out-of-state students who receive full tuition scholarships get the out of state fees waived, so that the actual tuition is the same as in-state students and the scholarship money covers the in state tuition fees
