University Housing

Yes, It is true about Tucker and Owen. I believe all other dorms are open to freshmen except maybe Watauga. Also Wolf Village Apartments are not open to freshman.

Tucker and Owen are for freshmen, but I think the only requirement you need is either you or your roommate has to be in First Year College. I know some guys last year, who were already engineering majors, but their roommates were FYC.

nguyen0824 is prob. right. When S1 lived in Owen (2005-2006), it was a FYC dorm then but non FYC kids were allowed to apply for Owen/Tucker and could get in if space was available. Neither S nor his roommate were FYC. So maybe now at least one roommate has to be FYC.

I want to here some Opinions about the University Towers. Is that a good place to stay? How much more is it to stay there?

My son spent the day at NCSU with a friend who is a freshman. He was told...stay at central campus, and in a dorm with hall style bath and not University Towers. I will ask him for more info when he gets home. He liked Tucker, which is where his friend lives, but he won't be in 1st yr college if he attends NCSU. We were SOOO impressed with the school today!

ncmx2, glad yu had a great visit to NCSU. If you aren't in FYC, the the Tri-Towers are the other central campus choice. They are all suites. I think the only other dorms with hall style arrangements are in the Honors village (east campus) and North Hall which is right on Hillsborough st. but don't know if many freshman live there.

ledwards..I have no first hand info. on UT. S1 has said he would not have lived there because it just seems separated fr. everyone else. Also the UT meal plan is only good at UT so if you want to eat on campus w/ friends the other dorms, you will have to pay cash for your meals because the UT plan is no good at the NCSU dining halls.
