Just wondering if you could double major with that BFA. THANKS!

The UAB BFA in Musical Theatre is a rigorous degree program with a heavy course load in the major, so a double major would be very difficult to maintain. If a student were willing to attend UAB for more than four years, and take classes over the summer, it could be a possibility!

Will there still be a BA degree in Musical Theatre?

UAB does not offer a BA in Musical Theatre, but students can pursue a BA in Theatre with concentrations in Performance, Design/Technology and General Studies, as well as the new BFA in Musical Theatre. The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa does offer a BA in Musical Theatre.

@UABirmingham I’m very excited about this new program:) I was wondering if you would prefer to have students apply to the school after sending in prescreens or prior? Also are there any students that could share their experience thus far with the University of Alabama?

I’m glad you’re excited about the program! UAB currently doesn’t have a pre-screen although prospective students do apply through https://app.getacceptd.com/uab. Students are allowed to audition for the program before applying to the university; however, acceptance or scholarship offers cannot be made until the student has been accepted to the university. I will see if there are any current students who would be willing to share their experiences on college confidential. Feel free to reach out with any additional questions!

Thank you so much!
