University of British Columbia VS Drexel University

Hey guys!
I am an International Student from Bahrain and I got accepted into UBC in Canada and Drexel University in Philadelphia USA.I am planning to major in Mechanical Engineering . I am also receiving some quite good aid from Drexel University but unfortunately none from UBC.
If we consider the rankings then UBC is the place to go but recently I have been in a state of confusion. Drexel University being in Philadelphia ( 5th ranked city in the world in terms of economy) seems very promising with a good education. While on the other hand UBC , one of the highly ranked unis in the world , has a very recognised degree. I am not concerned about the beauty of the campus . I am only concerned with the academics and How the uni will help me in the future.
Any and all help would be appreciated in helping me decide. Please comment the ros and cons of both unis and what do you think?
Thanks in advance.

What’s your budget and are costs an issue? In that case, choose Drexel. Note that Drexel is known for its co-op program - if that’s not appealing to you, then UBC may be a better choice. Academically, UBC has higher-level classes but much larger class size and less approachable professors.

The costs and budgets are not that big of an issue. UBC also has Co op programs and i will be attending the Okanagan campus meaning small class sizes. The UBC degree ,in my opinion , will be more recognised post graduation. What do you think?

It sounds like you prefer Okanoagan .
Beware that it’s very rural.

Hey! I am an International student as well and I got selected to UBC and Drexel as well. I applied for the KMILOT Award full scholarship but didn’t get in. I faced the same dilemma as you when it came to choosing which college to attend. I’m on a tight budget (middle class family) so I had to go with Drexel’s generous offer which was a 70% scholarship. Yes true, UBC’s degree is much more recognized and prestigious but I had to think about my situation as well. Do you think I made the right decision cos sometimes I kinda feel stupid for not choosing UBC. What about you, what college did you eventually choose to attend? It would be nice to know.
