I am very interested in attending Berkeley, particularly their engineering program. But what are my chances? I am a freshman in high school currently with a unweighted- 4.0 and weighted 4.43 GPA.
I am part of my school's,
Robotics club,
Business Professionals club (going to state),
Speech team,
and Science Olympiad.
I love engineering and hope to go into that field.
I have a very international background after having lived in Germany for 3 years of my life and going to an international school there. My main sport is cross country and I love to play guitar (8 years, hope to have a band). I can code in HTML and CSS and am learning Java currently.

Enjoy your high school years. And ucberkely does lectures on YouTube.

SAT/ACT score?

Do you live in California?

I have not been able to do SAT/ACT as I am a freshmen in high school but I am preparing for them any advice as far as extracurriculars?

No, I don’t live in california.

You are on the right track in terms of grades and EC’s. You need to aim for an SAT of around 2100 or an ACT of 32 to be competitive. Good Luck.

Not living in California does make it harder for you. ACT scores are going to be 33 or higher, SAT scores at least above 2250.

ECs that are nice would be academic clubs like NHS and BETA (and LEADERSHIP in them), class officer positions, mentoring, honestly, a job would help, if there are any positions of leadership in the school board, national competitions, etc…

I understand that a job is good for understanding how to deal with money and commitment which are very valuable skills but do colleges care so much about having a job in high school? Does being a well-rounded student mean you have to have a job?
