University of California Transfer Students Fall 2007 OFFICIAL THREAD!!!

why wednesday???
isn't the deadline 11/30

and yeah there are only 3 personal statements

yeah but im planning on turning my application in on 11/01.

just for better chance :P

lol I thought they don't read apps till after christmas

they may not start reviewing apps until next february or so, but when they do, they still check it in chronological order of application turned in (meaning earlier you turn in, the earlier they review your app)

so the earlier i turn in, the better my chance is for the admission, and the earlier i receive my acceptance letter. :)

How do you know they do that? I noticed some of the people still waiting for decisions late this year had turned in their applications really early. What you are saying makes sense but I don't think it is necesarrily happens that way.

which term did they apply for? Fall '06?
If they are still waiting for decision, im sure they are not given any admission since UCLA's term already started nearly a month ago.

No they are not still waiting now but they were waiting months after other applicants found out. I am just thinking since they split up the applications between admissions people some of them may be faster then others even though they don't have the first group of applicants. Anyway it doesn't really matter. I say turn it in just to get it over with. :)

Which 3 personal statements are we suppose to write? cuz i dunno whether must we do the last essay or only the first 3 essays?

I don't understand. Why are some people here keep saying there are more than 3 essays to complete for UC?

I thought there were only three essay to complete.

because they don't know how to open the pdf for instructions

someone should write up a tutorial on how to do that :P

haha at the ppl confused about the essay.. you must do all THREE and yes it's only 3. 2 questions should be 200 words and 1 question should be 600. total 1000, no more than 1100, and thats already way cutting it.

QUESTIONS: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/apply/how_apply/personal_statement.html

and that question about work. the ucla counselor said that they value work hours, especially if its 25+ and you're a full time student... cause that's a pretty impressive workload.. it's also recommended that you state this in your personal statement.. so good job dhl3!

Nice topic, KevinTech!

Let me say hi and good luck to everyone of you--transfers of 2007.

The admission process can be quite simple and even exciting when you receive the acceptance letters so don't worry too much... You will deserve the space in your top choice schools if you have worked hard enough. Currently, especially this upcoming November, you will have endless number of questions so feel free to ask here... This forum is very helpful!

I was a transferring student last year 2006 and currently attending UCLA. I will visit this forum occasionally and help answering any question regarding UCs transfer process.

I appreciate that kevin101.

i go to a cal state now. i have no GPA as of yet (i'm in my first semester) and by the end of this school year i will have 17 GE units (33 units total.) i'm applying to UCSC for next fall. i was considering cal but their website says they don't accept lower-division transfers. my major is now music but i really want to do something interdisciplinary in developmental/peace and conflict/latin american studies.

if so much of the process is based primarily on grades..why is it that people with 3.9's and 4.0's get rejected (not haas)

Several Reason:

1.) They didn't finish their pre-req requirement
2.) They wrote like a sentence for each essay
3.) They didn't report their spring grade

If they did all of the above and got 3.9+ GPA, I see no other reason why they would be rejected.

3.) They didn't report their spring grade

You are not required to separately report your spring grades (as you do with fall) You are however, required to submit your complete transcripts around July.

hmm i see.
But if you send your Spring grade (along with Winter's), don't you fulfill the requirement and do not have to submit the complete transcript on July?
Cuz theoretically, you are required to send in FAll grade, and if you send your Winter and Spring grade separately, that's technically submitting all of the available grades.

I'm not really sure with this part, so correct me if im wrong.

and really, i've seen no school that sends only the spring grades separately when you ask for the final official transcript after you complete your spring term.
They send you all the grade from your very first term to the spring term.
