University of California Transfer Students Fall 2007 OFFICIAL THREAD!!!

it's damn well worth it for tacos

You and your tacos pellman...

Maybe you aren't typing it right. I was able to enter my honors classes... Also there is a seperate section to list any transfer programs that you are a part of.

I just clicked the "TAP with UCLA" under the Transfer Program section.

I mean, you will have to send your official transcript anyway, and it will mention that you are in TAP honors.

Also, I dunno if this applies to all schools, but according to my transfer adviser, UCLA will actually call your school at the end of Fall Semester to check and verify whether you are TAP certified. So you shouldn't be worried about not being able to put honors classes, because UCLA has their own way of checking your TAP status ;)

alrite thanks :D

Wow...I swear I've learned so much random information about the college process its nuts. We should have a "COLLEGE TRIVIA BOWL" game or something.

In January or so, your school will hold a TAP certification day. You will have a form where you will fill out your major, honors classes and your GPA. Your honors counselor will then send these out to UCLA and we will get our applications reviewed with "priority consideration".

That's what my honors counselor told me. haha.

I demarcated them as honors on the application itself.

Question: Would they reject me because I have too many units? I have like 28 units worth of AP credit and around 55 from Freshmen year. That's already 83 quarter units and I haven't counted Sophomore year yet. I'm planning to apply to UCLA =</p>

jenni, your school using semester or quarter system?

jennicker, from what i heard (counselor), you can choose what course credits you want from your ap exams.

I also have a question. If you get course credit from an ap exam, when you transfer, does (UCLA specifically) recognize the course as ap credit or credit for an actual course. (IE, lets say i got a 4 on AP Bio, equivalent to Bio 3 at my CC) when transferring, will UCLA or any other UC recognize it as Bio 3 or an AP credit?

I'm on a quarter system. I'm afraid I'll go over 130 units and they said they rarely accept anyone that have over that amount. I'm taking classes for the GE requirements and prereqs and well as pre-pharm so that's why I have a lot. So if you say I can choose the ones I want to apply, do I still list it on the application or just totally disregard it?

don't worry I have 47 semester units from APs :P

if you're coming from a CCC, it doesn't matter how many units you have.
skwz: I think you get the actual course. check on the website for sure.

I'm not from a CCC. I'm from a UC.

jenni, what's your major?

i'm mainly applying to the UCs for fall 2007. i've been at PCC for a few semesters and i'll just barely finish my 60 units in the spring. i'm pulling a 19 unit semester with math and biology so that should be a lot of fun. PCC doesn't have the best advising...

gpa: 3.6
major: english
activities: literary magazine, work, volunteer work
schools: ucla, ucsb, uci, ucr, ucb

i'm not really sure how likely ucla is, but ucsb is my second choice i guess. i still need to visit the campus. i visited uci and ucr but i didn't really like their location or social life.

i'm having some trouble with the essays. does anyone know if any of the UCs are known for their english and/or creative writing programs?

Can anyone tell me what TAP and TAG stand for?

oh, also...are there any good books or websites that help with writing the personal statements? i just need an idea of what they're expecting.

TAP - Transfer Alliance Program
TAG- not sure?

but for TAP, more info ->

Would only having 2/5 prereqs. completed before fall 07 completely ruin any chances of getting into UCSD for economics? I fear that I might have to stay at my cc another year to get 4/5 completed.
