We need more information. What college are you at? Have you completed any transfer programs? What are your extracurriculars?

well...i am at De Anza College. I have TAG to UCD. little ec's

man i wish I found this site before I applied.

can anyong give me my chances at berkeley, UCLA, UCSD and davs

I have 3.89 with NO tap or honors classes. good ec's. an OK essay and my major is English.

you are in at all schools
No worries :P

ah, just you saying that makes me feel sooooooooo good.

thanks for the quick response!

Yeup. I agree. Chances are all above 70%+

Your sittin' pretty

"We do look with disfavor on students who take a
little bit longer than the usual two years,
providing there are outside responsibilities,
such as work or family." -Berkeley Adcom

I don't know if it's the same for all UC's."

eh. im sure it's gonna be different since you're doing your pre-vet requirements. im doing my pre-dental requirements and im a sociology major, when i transfer, they're gonna see that i've done ochem, inorganic chem, physics, etc.... way more than pre-reqs for my major. so, it's not necessarily a bad thing, unless you're a pure sociology major with no hard classes and you take like 3 years...if you see my point.

When I went to the UCB transfer workshop they said that they just don't want anybody taking like 2 classes a semester.

Will it look bad if i got a D in one non-transferrable course that is not related to my major (I'm a stats major, but the class I'm referring to is Bio 171 Biodiversity and Evolution), even if I get a 3.8+ UC GPA?

I've herd so many things but, a Berkeley counselor told me that they don't care at all. since ton1ch1 was told the opposite, my guess is that they don't have any hard set policy either way.

Its not going to be something that will drastically affect you.

1.) Some of the most impacted majors:
- Communication Studies (Avg. GPA: 3.88, Admit Rate:13.71%)
- Business Economics (Avg. GPA: 3.81, Admit Rate: 19.03%)
- Economics (Avg. GPA: 3.76, Admit Rate: 24.08%)
- Economics/Int'l Area Studies (Avg. GPA: 3.72, Admit Rate: 27.02%)
- Psychology (Avg. GPA: 3.58, Admit Rate: 33.14%)
- ALL of the Engineering Majors

2.) For the very impacted majors (especially the Communication Studies and Business Economics), UCLA expects you to have completed most, if not all, pre-reqs completed by the time you apply (or by the end of the Fall semester before you transfer).

Business Economics

1.) You MUST have ALL the OFFERED pre-requisites completed by the Spring before you transfer (or you will be rejected. This is mentioned in their website)

2.) You will be placed as a PRE-business economics until you complete all the pre-reqs, including the two courses that you must complete at UCLA. The average grade for those two courses must be a 3.5 in order to be placed in Business Economics, or you will be placed in the Economics.

3.) For those of you who are transferring in Fall 2008, Financial and Managerial Accounting courses will be required as pre-reqs.

Communication Studies

1.) You GPA must be at least 3.5 at the time of admission in order to be considered for admission

2.) Some of the courses (mentioned in the UCLA website) must be completed before applying.

"1.) You GPA must be at least 3.5 at the time of admission in order to be considered for admission"

You mean application?

yeah sorry.
It's supposed to mean "Your GPA must be at least 3.5 at the time of APPLICATON...."

dhl3, is that list of impacted majors just for UCLA?

yeah, just for UCLA.

But for Berkeley, i heard social science department is the most impacted also.

Please chance me?

Major: Global Studies + pre-health
First choice school: UCLA
Current GPA: 3.5
EC's: Decent amount(mostly community service, and some work)
IGETC: Done by spring 2007
Major preps: 7/10 done by Fall 2006, will be completely done by Spring 2007
Essays: Above average, "unique" and "really good" from what 7 people have told me. I'd grade myself a B+/A-

ugh. the counselors at my school are SO confusing. one says that the Biology 171 Evolution and Biodiversity class from a CSU doesn't transfer to UCs. another says that it does. if it really is a UC-transferrable course then I'm screwed! will one D significantly affect my chances at UCB and UCLA?

doesn't it tell you whether it's CSU/UC transferrable right next to the course name in your college catalog?
