University of California Transfer Students Fall 2007 OFFICIAL THREAD!!!

"Greatest Misconception of College Applicants #1:

The best kind of essay is the one that's emotionally touching/moving."

Oops. I guess I'm done for.

sauronvaldemont, it's hard not to mess with your "geniusness" when you can't even write the correct word.

lawl pwned x10

Hey guys,
I want to know ur opinion.

I am applying to UCB majoring in Chemical Engineering.
My current GPA is not that great; only 3.3

But I already did a calculation, and if I study harder this semester and next semester I can raise it to 3.5-3.6 by the end of Spring 2007.

Do u think I can get admited?

so you already applied or you are applying next year? because it doesn't matter how high you get your gpa this year if you already applied.

Hey sauron, can I see your essay? I'm interested in how you wrote the thing

UGH. Just noticed a grammar error in my essay.

sighhhhh

^That's why I haven't fully read my essays since submitting. Its like looking up the answers to questions on a test that you already turned in. No point in looking at it because its not like you can change it.

If I take many honors courses, will that improve my chances at getting into UCB/ UCLA? Do they prefer someone with a 3.6 GPA but with many (5+) honors classes, or someone with a 4.0 GPA but with no honors classes?

Also, people have said that UCs do not recommend taking over 70 units of classes at a CC. Do they mean 70 transferrable units, or 70 units of ALL the classes you've taken at a CC?

i'm pretty sure transferrable units. it doesn't make any sense to count classes that don't transfer

really they said dont take any more 70 units.

just curious...is anyone here transferring from somewhere other than a ccc?

Actually a UCLA counselor told me they prefer applicants to have around 80 units so...

cdunton, I'm transferring from another UC.

really sweetny lol

yea i wonder why peopel think that its good to finish in 2 yrs

it seems like its better to take time and take as many courses as you can, become more well rounded, apply and then get in even more prepared than before.

chance me. 3.34 GPA TAP certified from community college. UCLA for Economics. very OK essay.

smith will you have your major prep done by spring?
I'd say a bit of a reach, since it is an impacted major. TAP will definitely help you though.

since you are TAP certified, you definitely have a chance..

but I dunno. 3.34 is rather low for an impacted major..

maybe 50% ~ 60%

since you have tap, I say its only a slight reach

hi...chance me
3.19 GPA from cc, major: Civil Eng, to: UCI, UCD, CSU Ponoma, SJSU...ok essay
I know 3.19 is too low
