University of California Transfer Students Fall 2007 OFFICIAL THREAD!!!

What's not fun about screwing while lol (you gotta think a little to get the joke).

lol............

yea, but the course that im about to crash is a major prereq and its not listen on my transcript yet!

oops, i meant listed**

yeah that spelling mistake really messed up the sentence

what would you recommend? add the course on the UC update section even though its not on my transcript yet?

ps. the class is really important for my major!

Use your best judgement :)

Here's a question that you guys could help me on.

For my major, Econ, I've already completed all the pre-reqs and finished my GE's at another UC. For Winter, I'm going to take 2 communications classes because I might want to double major and because the econ classes aren't being offered. I listed those down on my original app. Then in Spring, I'm going to start taking some upper division classes for my Econ major. My question is: will this be looked down upon? Basically, I feel like there's no more classes for me to take, unless I take even more upper division classes AKA (Econ 100, 102, etc.) and aren't we supposed to refrain from taking those classes because they might not transfer over? Any help is appreciated.

Are you transferring from UC to UC?

Yes (10 characters)

Interresting situation. Personally, I would take the upp. div. classes in the unlikely event that they do transfer. Either way, since you've finished your GEs (and I assume you don't want to take any other GE-related classes) and major reqs, you'll essentially be "wasting" the classes you're going to take for Spring, so why not take something that will benefit you, if not towards completing your major but your academic inquiry?

QUICK QUESTION:

HOW MANY GPAs DOES THE UC LOOK AT?

i know theres the UC GPA which seems like it would be the most important..and thats just the GPA that considers all UC transferable courses?

can someone make this clear to me????

Thanks

the gpa with the transferable courses is the one you use for the UCs

pellman, thanks for the replies: so if I leave my schedule the way it is now, it would look something like this

Winter:
Communications class (For my interest and because I might double major)
Communications class (Same)
Honors class
Political science (Same)

Spring:
Upper Div Econ
Upper Div Stats
Another class for my own interest
Accounting

Should I stick with this? Basically, I'm taking the winter to explore another major that I might want to try and because I feel like communications classes will help me in my career. Good idea/bad idea? Thanks for replies.

Transferrable GPA = all courses that will transfer to UCs. This is a seperate GPA from your cumulative from your CC.

I think those classes are pretty ideal for your situation. Last thing though: before you take those upper div. classes, call the UCs that you applied to and inquire about their transferability, and whether or not it has any bearing on your admission chances.

There are three types of courses:

A. UC/CSU Transferrable Courses
B. CSU ONLY Transferrable Courses
C. Non-transferrable Courses.

At my CC, any course below 100 level is considered Non-transferrable (ex. English 094, Math 060, etc). Anything 100 or above is either UC/CSU transferrable (Type A) or CSU only transferrable (Type B). The GPA that UCs look for is the Type A Kind, and they are usually indicated in your college catalog.

So whether you get D or F in Type B or C, UCs won't care about those; they'll only care about the Type A GPA.

thanks a lot dhl...

but when applying to UCs...

we still need to write down a course thats in the B and C category?

yes you list down

E V E R Y T H I N G.

that makes sense. ty again eveyrone
