This might sound a little geeky, but is anyone else excited about updating their app? I like online forms and filling stuff out. I guess it helps that I have good grades to update with. Anyways, Happy Holidays to all!

Where and when do we update our grades for fall quarter? Does it play a significant role in the admission process if i got a 3.92 this quarter and boosted my overall GPA significantly?

I'm excited! :D

I think so because it shows an upward trend in your academic performance, especially since to your inteded fransfer semester.

Chem 50 - A
Anatomy 35 - B
Human Sexuality- A

if i forgot to add a PE class (1 unit) from like two years ago, can i add it in the january 8th update?

thanks

I want to know too

woah, so I've gone from a 2.0 my first semester, then 3.56 the second semester, to a 4.0 for this semester. (with a couple summer classes in between for a 3.0 average on those)

will that help my chances for some of the tougher schools to get into? seriously though, Im worried because my overall is still pretty low (3.35). but I feel like showing my progression is going to help me, am I right?

can you list out the courses you took each semester and the grades you got for those?

Bobbak, upward trends are always good, so they will take that into account.

mostly depends on the courses.
If he took bunch of difficult courses like physics and high-level math in his first semester and got a relatively low GPA, and take "easy" courses like P.E. and art, etc and get a 4.0 in his later semesters, upward trend will not be much of a factor.

my first semester I took Econ, English, accounting, and sociology. econ and english I did good in, but I hated my other two classes. needless to say, that was a worthless semester.

the next semester i took stats, computer science, history, and got my two art electives out of the way, drama and an art history course.
over the summer i took physics and anthro.
and this past term I took poli sci 1&2, photography, western civ, and I retook sociology so I could remove the F from counting in my gpa.

so really I havent had that difficult of a schedule, but at least I've been doing good ever since the early screw up.

at this point I have transfer agreements signed with davis and santa barbara, so Ill be happy with going to those schools. I just thought I'd try and apply to UCLA, UCB, and UCSD for the heck of it :)

What's your major, Bobbak?

hey everyone! are any of you going to crash any classes this semester? are you going to add that class on the "update" section? Im wondering this because classes that you will crash arent in your transcript yet lol

pellman, Im currently a Poli Sci major, but Im taking a CS programming class and calculus this upcoming semester, because Im starting to think about switching to Computer Science

Well the Poli Sci major is incredibly tough to get into for Cal (one of their top majors) and with a 3.35 gpa, you'll need all luck you can get. For UCLA, if you have TAP, you have a pretty good shot (70-80%). If not, you probablly have a 50% chance, seeing that their minimun GPA admit was at 3.5 last year, albeit they did accept 540 of 897 students (60.20%).

bobbak: if you have all/most of your major-prep courses done, I'd say these are your chances...

UCB - Reach
UCLA - On the bubble
UCSD - Very slight reach/In

I got into UCSD Poli Sci last year with a 3.27, but I turned it down so I could finish (TAP) and go to UCLA (my dream school. :) )

This year, I applied to UCLA (TAP), UCSD, UCI, and UCSB with a 3.40.

Good luck... :)

***? why did everyone just ignore my post!

mojo-
Update your app and put everything on there because once they get your final transcript, if its different than what you reported, you will be screwed lol.
