University of Chicago Early Decision???

<p>Hey Everyone--- I'm trying to decide if I should ED to UPENN or if its just a waste because there's no way i'm getting in. Insight would be appreciated.</p>

<p>Scores:
SATs: composite 2090 (only taken it once, taking it again October 9th)
700 Reading
700 Math
690 Writing
ACTs: composite 33 (only took it once)
32 English
30 Math
36 Reading
32 Science</p>

<p>GPA and Class Rank: 3.92 weighted, top 15% of class (i just got pushed out of the top 10%)</p>

<p>My mom also works at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital and I have an Alumni Interviewer writing a recommendation letter for me. I'm a pretty decent writer, so my essays shouldn't be an issue.</p>

<p>I think you’ve got a decent chance. Certainly go for it. Your ECs could be better, but should be okay enough to make it through. That is, to Uni of Chicago. I’m not sure about UPenn</p>

<p>You don’t really stand out in the applicant pool, so for UChicago in particular I’d suggest putting some intense effort into the essays. Both schools seem like reaches to me.</p>

<p>University of Chicago is an Early Action, not Early Decision school. While your profile is “decent” overall (with regards to the level competition at such schools), the rank will certainly hurt you: it illustrates a downward trend, the last thing colleges want to see. Nothing stands out, so essays are going to be your save grace.</p>
