does anyone know how University of Chicago and Northwestern calculate GPA? how do they weight the grades (is an AP or honors class worth more?), also, do they care about +/- ? Thanks so much to anyone who knows!

You'd probably get more help if you posted this question in the University of Chicago/Northwestern forums.

I'm not sure about your first question, but I don't think they care about +/- since many schools don't use that system.

University of Chicago doesn't recalculate your GPA. They look at what your school gives them in context. Since each school weighs differently, I doubt U of Chicago even looks at weighted GPA. However, the strength of the curriculum is the most important factor in the school's admission policy.

thanks

thats kind of frustrating since some high schools weight AP and honors classes and some don't. also some schools take into account +/-. is it safe to say that they probably look at grades but consider course load more than getting straight A's?
