University of Chicago

I really want to go to the University of Chicago.

Over the summer, i'm planning to study for ACT/SAT and plan on doing loads of community service.

What I've failed in doing so far is extracurricular activities. I have some, but it's not as much compared to others.

During 11th grade i'm planning on taking 3 AP's, however, I don't want to burden myself with too much work so that I can participate in more extracurricular activities.
My school is ranked the best in my state, and is highly competitive with some difficult teachers and competitive students as well. So far, I've gotten 3 "B's" two in Honors Geometry (I hate working with shapes) and a second B in AP history class. (First AP class ) Overall, I've taken the hardest classes that my grade level has to offer, but I still don't believe it's enough.

P.S. i'm willing to use up my whole summer for educational benefits if that contributes to getting better chances.

Any suggestions?
Thanks. :)

3 AP’s is honestly pretty standard for a UChicago applicant. If you can’t handle 3 AP’s with a decent amount of EC’s, you should ask yourself if you’re capable of handling UChicago.

Even if you can get all A’s with great EC’s (and get at least to the mid-2200s SAT/34 ACT), it’s still going to be a reach.

There really isn’t enough information at this point to truly “Chance” you. Good Grades and Test scores will help you, yes work on that for sure. But what will help you more is being unique. Do some things that not every boring school robot drone does.

Something that you can really do to standout at U of Chicago is have KILLER essays. Be yourself, basically. They really like quirky, outside of the box kind of applicants and if you can show that side of yourself, you’ll have a good shot (assuming your GPA, scores, and EC activities reflect a similar tenacity).
