University of Delaware 2018 Graduation

Looking for a good place to stay that doesn’t cost a boat-load of money. Most hotels are up charging $300- $400 per night and requiring a 2 night minimum. What else can we do?

Bumping for parents of 2019 graduates (because hotels do book up quickly!)…hoping some former students/parents can advise…

Is it better to stay on campus and pay the $ or to stay farther away and drive to events? Is traffic terrible during graduation weekend?

We had a May 2017 graduate and we stayed at the Courtyard Marriot near Christiana Mall because that was the closest hotel I could get when we booked in JULY of 2016. Staying on campus would certainly have been more convenient, but this distance was fine too. Traffic is the worst on Saturday since there is the stadium commencement and, for some, additional graduation ceremonies around campus. We needed every minute of our 2-night stay to fit it all in. His lease ended the day after graduation, so that Sunday we spent helping him pack up and clean out. The weekend goes by so fast.

Bumping for class of 2019. Would love to get more input on which, if any, of the hotels near/on campus are preferable. And can anyone comment on ease of getting older GPs around for the various events/activities?
