Thanks, I’m actually really worried. If I lie about my suspension, could they find out? Do colleges receive discipline records? Someone told me it’s on my permanent record but when I was shown my transcript I didn’t see anything about it.
As part of the application they will ask and you have to be 100% truthful I think if you have excellent grades in 11th and take vigorous classes in 12 with your SAT scores you should be good. (Not knowing the circumstances of the suspension). Good luck!
I have heard others who have used things like that in their essays to show their resolve and overcoming a bad situation. If you can find a way to do that is what I would recommend.
I was suspended for having my phone during an AP exam. I understand why my score was canceled and I already feel terrible about it. For the rest of that school year I had given up hope for myself and that’s one of the reason my final grades weren’t the best. But now I take more AP and dual enrollment classes and my grades have increased drastically. I am willing to do anything that will help me compensate for having it on my record. I was thinking of attempting to get it expunged, I just don’t know how.
@seashell123456 it is evident that you are working very hard. I’m glad you have hope in yourself now and I wish you the best! It could work into your essay like @burghdad said!
that could be an amazingly brave essay
@seashell123456 I think with most colleges it’s true that your gpa can be absolute garbage, as long as you show improvement. If you have a 2.9 your first two years but worked your way up to all B’s, or A’s in classes you used to fail, it’ll show admissions officers your work ethic, as well as your growth. They understand that being 14 and stupid shouldn’t determine whether or not you get into college.
My son just got a packet and letter via snail mail with his RD acceptance. It said his application for the honors college was still under consideration and he would hear by March. Kind of a long shot but worth a shot. Nothing about Merit or Financial Aid. Any idea when this will come? He already got some nice Merit scholorships and FA from a few other comparable colleges that he applied to EA so assuming he will get that from here too.
Can this be true?..I heard UD admitted a freshmen last year who scored a 19 ACT and 2.1 GPA. She declared Biology as first choice and undeclared as second. My nephew was put on a waiting list at that time and he scored a 32 ACT with a 3.75 GPA major-Business. He was accepted later on but already moved on to another university. Anyone hear of this story?
Does anyone know if Pre-Medical Diagnostics is a competitive major? Is it as competitive as Nursing?
I am becoming more aggravated with each passing week. Today is 10 weeks since my application became complete, and the only information I have gotten is the vague “we try to make decisions within the 8-12 week timeframe”. Even more so aggravating because I was told that I would hear “early in the new year”.
@mellyp2000 I couldn’t agree more! It has been 11 weeks for me. So frustrating and I don’t want to bother the admissions office too much but I find myself calling every few weeks. Same reply. “Look toward the mid-March time period”.
UD asked for midterm grades. Thinking this is a good sign. My high school counselor just confirmed the mid-term grades were received. Hopefully I get an acceptance this Friday
Crossing my fingers this soon ends. Delaware is my first choice and a reach school.
My son is in the same boat waiting for a final decision. Last Friday my sons counslor sent his mid year grades. He has not heard anything ! I hope all who has sent in there mid year grades will know this Friday either way…
Same boat here as well. This Friday will be two weeks since I sent in my mid term grades. Very anxious! Good luck everyone.
My DD was admitted on December 15. I called yesterday about merit and she is receiving none. The person on the phone told me that she had to have a 1350 for SAT or a 29 for ACT. (unfortunately she had a 1270 and a 27). She did have a 4.35 W GPA and tons of leadership/service/EC’s. So bummed. This is her first choice school and we were hoping to see some merit of any amount to help with the costs.
The midterm grades must be sent by the High School or they won’t accept them officially. Anyhow, let’s wait till Friday. Look for your major to disappear then you’ll know. It usually disappears Thursday at some time.
We are also in same boat. My daughter applied very early… application submitted by Oct 2. On Oct 18 received the email saying “application is complete should take 8-12 weeks”. After 12 weeks of waiting we received an update to portal saying due to popularity of major and large number of applicants needed more time and should hear by March 13. Then mid January received the email requesting mid year grades. Feb 7 called the admissions office to make sure they had received the electronic copy from guidance. They said yes and not to expect it to show on portal as they don’t list that as it wasn’t part of original requirements. When I asked about long it typically takes to hear she said" you should hear by March 13". So it has been 17 weeks of waiting for us. We are OOS and business major. I congratulate all the kids that have received admissions and it is well deserved reading the incredible stats. My daughter GPA 3.75 SAT 1280 many AP, varsity sports clubs etc. But it is clear that the higher stats are being accepted first and the rest have to wait which is understandable. Each week we check the portal and hopefully will get good news soon. Good luck to everyone!!
Anybody have their major disappear today?
