@NJ08809 Really, wow, but with FPP and BF you are going to spend money on an online school. You are better off going to Santa Fe or another State College.
@Melissa96 if you are accepted for fall but decide you want summer, how long would it take to find out if you could get a term change approved?
Consider encouraging my son for doing this. His mom and I were both summer entries a year a part 30 years ago. Great times from summer B and felt it really helped for fall.
It depends. We work to admit a full class to each semester so getting to change can depend on why and whether or not there ends up being space in the term you want to move. If we can swap 5 students who want to move each way that is one thing, once we come close to hitting the number we want to yield then we have to stop changing students into that semester. We try to let students know as soon as we possibly can but it does go all the way to the beginning of May before we can know for certain some of the time.
@Melissa96 Thank you so much for your responses on this blog. As parents this year the process is so stressful and haivng a legit voice answer questions is very comforting. I know @Dean_J at UVA does as well. So many other schools rely on parent information that is often wrong which causes more stress. Regardless of how tomorrow goes, I appreciate your responses to parents and students who are stressed with the process
Thank you so much! Amazing!!!
@Melissa96 So if we ask right away it that better? Like Monday morning? Lol
Thanks, a million years ago when I attended I had a shirt that said
University of Florida
The best 5 or 6 years of your life
I’ve manage to stretch it to what will be 30 years this fall. I wish everyone who wanted to could be a Gator but the best I can do is give accurate information where possible
The out-of-state fees are waived, so it’s effectively a full-ride for NMF. That’s why my son has UF as his first choice. This is from UF official site.
Benacquisto Scholarship to include not only in-state National Merit and
National Achievement Scholars but also out-of-state winners of these
awards. For out-of-state National Merit Scholars, the award is equal to the
institutional cost of attendance for a resident of Florida minus the
student’s National Merit Scholarship. These eligible students are exempt
from the payment of out-of-state fees.
Wow, just wow. I thought USC was an amazing deal with what amounts to $30k off, bringing COA to $50k per year.
UF is probably my first choice now too. Can’t beat free!
Good for you. I cannot imagine how I can fit into my shirts from college time even I still keep those
Thank you for offering a lot of clarity. That helps us a lot to relieve some stress.
Do we know if the funding for Benacquisto has been approved for next fall? I remember there was some worries recently that, due to Covid, the state of Florida might cut funding.
That’s the order on my son’s list. Plus, he doesn’t have Michigan to worry about like you. He got deferred there .
My son actually applied ED2 to Emory. I only found out the full-ride at UF after that. I was able to convince him to change his ED to RD at Emory immediately, and it happened to be the deadline on the same day. If he does not get in tomorrow, I will be in trouble.
Probably not yet. I recall someone was talking about April last year. I don’t think they would drop the scholarship for a few bucks and compromise the state strategy to attract talents.
I applied to Emory too. But there is no way I’d go there for over $70k a year over UF for free!
FYI.
That’s why I tried so hard to convince my son to give up ED at Emory. I will be able to retire sooner if he gets in UF instead of Emory
Not a good sign! We need to watch what happens very closely before making a final decision. Thanks for sharing.
Possibly in some programs. However the caliber of students at UF is about like OSU and PSU and slightly behind Michigan, UVA, UNC. Ahead of Rutgers by a bit.
Ohio State ACT range: 28-32
Florida ACT range: 28-33
Michigan ACT range 31-34
We’re really splitting hairs though. These are all top public schools.
